There are times when idolatry happens in the realm of politics, and more often there are also times when people in Big Eva or Mid Eva apply the label idolatry to things people participate in with a level of enthusiasm. In the case of the latter, Mid Eva, Virgil Walker, both involved with G3 Ministries took aim at people who demonstrated solidarity with Donald Trump following the assassination attempt on July 13.
This cultish behavior is over the top. It’s one thing to support a candidate. It’s quite something else to take on his image and likeness. Please stop!pic.twitter.com/JOLWHLzXoD

People wore white “bandages” on their ears at the Republican National Convention, akin to Trump himself. Virgil Walker came off the top rope to condemn this as idolatrously taking up a man’s image and likeness.
Screenshots of Virgil Walker wearing a Baker Mayfield jersey were then circulated begging the question as to what the difference is between them.
Virgil Walker also owns a MAGA hat. So again what is the difference between the white bandage and the MAGA hat? What makes one cultish and the other benign? According to Virgil Walker, the former is “hero worship.”
Virgil, is our friend @TomBuck engaged in hero worship? Is the reformed evangelical world engaged in it? I do not understand how one is ok and one is not? https://t.co/vtgBxMXzjP pic.twitter.com/FalkZbyWGJ

Jon Harris pointed out Tom Buck’s affinity for John MacArthur in that he drank a can of Fresca with MacArthur’s likeness. There are several more examples that could be done within the Calvinistic camp. But there does appear to be a different standard when Evangelical Popes are at play.
[Jon Harris] and all of CN who seems upset with my post, I had no idea you’d feel so included in my brief observation. My video post was the culmination of extensive observations, ranging from the reference to 6:11 PM as Ephesians 6:11, to the misinterpretation of Bible verses suggesting that Trump is God’s anointed, and even to the act of placing artificial objects on one’s ear to identify with him. I was unaware that describing the behavior as cultish would provoke such strong reactions among your group. In fact, I would suggest that the attention garnered by this comment may indicate a closer alignment with cult-like behavior. Most people who exhibit this behavior tend to align more closely with the NAR. However, to my surprise, it also extends into more conservative circles. Your team excels at turning friends into foes, and I have no doubt that this post will continue that trend. I did not intend to provide material for your upcoming podcasts. In any event, I wish you well. Btw, you don’t have to reach as far back as you did to dig up images that you think make your point. You could have easily scrolled my thread and found this. Of course, this image wouldn’t have allowed you simultaneously take a swipe at [Tom Buck].
The irony is palpable as G3 has spent the last year making enemies out of friends by attacking Christian Nationalism.

Not related but Biden is out. I knew when the NYT ( aka the mouthpiece of the deep state) turned on him he would be forced out. With Harris as the nominee I think the money stays put.
