Tim Keller’s legacy has been a recent subject of debate in part due to Shepherds For Sale. David French has just come off his endorsement of Kamala Harris. So the two forces combining to liberalize the Evangelical voting bloc is an unsurprising development.
In May 2022, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors announced that The After Party would be one of the thirty-two beneficiaries of their New Pluralists project, a $10 million war chest to “address divisive forces.” If that money were divided evenly, it would be $312500 which would fund the entirety of Chang’s umbrella organization, Redeeming Babel, which is behind The After Party. Curtis Chang, Russell Moore, and David French are behind this curriculum. In February, Curtis Chang came out and said that The After Party was meant to give pastors “plausible deniability” with their congregation.
“You don’t have to take the bullseye, right? Because this way, if you run The After Party in your small group community, uh, in your Bible studies and so forth like that, then if people get mad, they get mad at Curtis, Russell and David. They get less mad at you. You can have plausible deniability, right? You could just say, ‘Hey, you know I don’t agree with everything these guys say, but I think they’re worth listening [to].’ That’s the classic move, you know, you do make as a pastor, right? To, uh, you want to inject something but, you know, not have to take all of the shots for it, which you shouldn’t have to take all the shots for. That should be part of our job, is to do that. This is, that’s the partnership here.”
Enter Tim Keller’s church, Redeemer Presbyterian Church, a multicampus megachurch in New York City. They are hosting David French and Curtis Chang to speak on The After Party at their church. To make matters worse, you have to pay $20 to watch.
The event is on September 9 at their westside campus. As Tim Keller was a liberal, this is an expected development for his church. In 2021 Redeemer Presbyterian enforced a medical apartheid on its congregation at one of its campuses.
