Alistair Begg Stepping Down As Senior Pastor

2024 has been an eventful year for Alistair Begg. This past Sunday, Alistair Begg announced to the congregation of Parkside Church that he will formally step down from his role as senior pastor in a year. In the announcement, Begg insisted that he was stepping down on his own volition with no extraneous circumstances influencing him. This preemptively dispels the notion that his sinful advice to a grandmother to attend a gay wedding resulted in Begg getting canceled on radio and from John MacArthur’s conference.

Begg announced that there would be a transition as he intends to pass the baton. During this time he also envisions doing his ministry Truth For Life more in the absence of his regular preaching duties, clarifying that he’s not really retiring. It’s unclear how involved he will be in choosing his successor, joking that the elders could have him out sooner than September 14, 2025.

  1. We all know that a man of integrity would step down immediately, but then we also all know Begg… He’s utterly shameless. The church’s elders are useless. What a disgrace.
