Ezekiel 38 Dispensationalism

Christian Media Pushes Lie That Turkey Is Forming Ezekiel 38 Axis

One of the more irresponsibly salacious headlines this week is how Christian media sites are running an article about Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan forming the Ezekiel 38 alliance with Russia, Syria, and Iran. In the past Evangelical Dark Web has pointed out that Russia did not exist during and is not depicted in Ezekiel. David Jeremiah and others have argued that “Rosh” is Russia based on phonetic similarity. The article thumbnail above also presupposes a phonetic similarity between Moscow and Meshech.

1 And the word of the Lord came to me saying, 2 “Son of man, set your face toward Gog of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him 3 and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal. 4 I will turn you about and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them splendidly attired, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them wielding swords; 5 Persia, Ethiopia and Put with them, all of them with shield and helmet; 6 Gomer with all its troops; Beth-togarmah from the remote parts of the north with all its troops—many peoples with you.

Ezekiel 38:1-6 NASB1995

Ethiopia is hardly relevant in Middle Eastern affairs and modern Libya is a failed state. In any case Gog of Magog is describing one kingdom, not three.

All Israel News published the story “Axis of Ezekiel 38? – Turkish President Erdoğan calls for Russia, Iran, Turkey, Syria alliance against Israel, and multiple outlets got the call and republished it, including Christian Post and Charisma Magazine. The article is entirely clickbait:

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told local media on Saturday that Russia, Iran and Syria should do more to protect Syria’s “territorial integrity.”

“It is essential that Russia, Iran and Syria take more effective measures against this situation, which poses the greatest threat to Syria’s territorial integrity,” Erdoǧan said when asked about the recent alleged Israeli airstrike in the nation’s capital, Damascus.

Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) accused Israel of carrying out an airstrike in the Mezzah neighborhood in Damascus on Tuesday night.

SANA quoted a Syrian military source saying, “The Israeli enemy launched an aerial aggression with 3 missiles from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting a residential building at the densely populated Mezzah neighborhood in Damascus, claiming the lives of 7 civilians, among them women and children, injuring 11 others in initial toll and causing huge material damages to properties.”

Apparently, Turkey asking other nations for security guarantees for Syria is an aggressive action towards Israel who has spent decades undermining stability in the Middle East, with Syria and Iraq being the most obvious examples. The fact remains that Ergodan’s comments call for defensive action against Israel’s frequent acts of war against its neighbors. In Ezekiel 39, this alliance is clearly offensive, not defensive. There is nothing in the text about a Modern Israel, let alone a counter-offensive that against it being repelled.

All Isreal News has some big names involved, including Jack Graham, Mike Huckabee, and Skip Heitzig.

  1. Yous sure sound pro-soviet/ anti-semitic. Is this an islamo/catholicker site. Ir perhaps yous hate CHRIST too. Nasb? Really?. A little repentance goes a loooong way🤯

  2. Let me guess: what happened on October 7th is ultimately justified since Israel has spent years undermining stability in the Middle East, with nary a citation to prove your libelous statement? Your antisemitism is very clear to all those who understand this situation and the years of history behind it correctly, and this is just further solidified not only on this site but on your YT site as well. Your analysis of the biblical text from your particular viewpoint could have done without your taking a swipe at the Jews, but then again, it seems to be getting increasingly hard for you to hide your Jew-hatred. Please repent of your boasting over the natural branches and pray for the peace of Jerusalem as Scripture commands you.

  3. Jew hatred is when you prop up Talmudic Jews as victims and able to achieve salvation apart from Christ.

  4. Sorry, I’m not a boomer who can’t escape the Cold War. Pro Islam? The Israelis just bombed a church in Lebanon and killed a family.

  5. Strawman; who’s doing that? Not I (not that you asked, only asserted). Jew hatred is when you disparage the state of Israel with libelous slander, blaming all the conflict in the ME on them without taking into consideration the dearth of Jewish (and Christian) communities in the surrounding Arab world and the reason why that is, give Erdogan a pass on his statements concerning the destruction of the ONLY Jewish state in existence (the ONLY place where Jews can actually defend themselves from others who have sought their destruction and people like you who are right there to justify it), and then make obscure statements about “Talmudic Jews.” So, are only “Talmudic Jews” propped-up as “victims” in your view? Do Islamic terrorist and “Christian” antisemites distinguish between orthodox and liberal Jews when they spread their invective and genocide against them? Was October 7th justified in your view then? Should Israel as a modern nation-state just not exist?

  6. Yes Modern Israel shouldn’t exist. It should have remain a British colony, and the Middle East would be better off if without decolonization. So no Israel, but also no Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, or Iraq.

  7. What does being a Boomer have to do with anything? How do you know this man is a boomer, and what would that matter? Seriously, the level of pride coming off of you shows none of the Christian humility and desire for truth that out to mark true servants of Messiah and children of God. Please provide a source that proves the motive of the IDF was to bomb a church and kill a family, for I can provide numerous sources that show how cowards that apparently you don’t mind running cover for (cowards who, by the way, would slaughter you and your family for your shirk) hide behind civilians and in civilian zones in order to make sure that those who hate Israel (i.e. the UN, the Islamic world, apparently you) will have more than enough “evidence” to continue to promote its erasure.

  8. So, the Jewish people should have just remained scattered to be picked off by haters throughout the world as they had been accustomed to for 1900 years previous? How exactly would the ME be better without a democratic nation that values human freedom like Israel? Would it be better for Islam to reign in these areas as they had before the British came into control, because that’s where it was always headed any way? But I guess only the Crusades are a proper response to Muslim spread, that way you could literally kill two birds with one stone (Jews and Islamists)? How about the US just remain British colonies while we are at it?

  9. I also notice you didn’t answer my question concerning October 7th either…

  10. They should repent and believe in the gospel and assimilate. Democracy isn’t freedom, and 2020 showed us that Syria under Assad had more freedom than the Covid Nazis of Israel.

  11. Right…cease being Jewish people. Believing in Jesus is no doubt the most Jewish thing to do in my book (since he is the Jewish Messiah, period), but this doesn’t mean that Jewish identity is sinful, which you are more than implying in your response to me. I pray that the Lord properly open your eyes and bring you to repent of your disgusting Jew-hatred, for I can tell you right now, I am Jewish, I believe in Jesus, and I will never, never stop ID’ing myself as a Jewish believer, as Paul himself said in 1 Co. 7:17-18, “Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches. Was anyone at the time of his call already circumcised? Let him not seek to remove the marks of circumcision. Was anyone at the time of his call uncircumcised? Let him not seek circumcision.” Maybe Paul got it wrong and he should have said, “You Gentiles are good, but you pesky Jews, quite making such a deal about circumcision and assimilate already!” I never said democracy is freedom (though from your way on analysis I am not surprised at your surface-level response), but that the only democratic nation in the area is a promoter of a plethora of freedoms even to this day, far more than the murderous Assad or the brutal Shia regime in Iran and their proxies in the ME. I would agree that the COVID response, like here, was a major overstep and ungodly. But I mean seriously, have you ever even been to Israel? Have you seen the red signs marked out for the PA to legally discriminate against Jews/Israelis from going into the so-called West Bank and Gaza? I mean this with all sincerity, you sound like a low-information foolish person who has no idea what he’s talking about beyond the accepted AP/Al-Jazeera talking points. And one last time, was October 7th justified in your Israel-hating view?

  12. I don’t care about October 7. I’m an American. If pagans want to fight each other, as Christians we should be neutral. But thanks for proving you dual loyalty. As Christians, we should have more affection for the believers in the Middle East than the pagans.

  13. So, you dodge the question, demonstrating no sympathy nor care for the 1,200+ who were raped and murdered (many of whom were probably not believers and therefore going to hell, but hey, they aren’t American, so perhaps you can’t be bothered with a bunch of “pagan” Jews dying and being raped [filthy occupiers to you no doubt they be]); what of the Americans that are still held hostage by the wicked “pagans” in Hamas (oh wait, they’re American-Israelis, so perhaps the dirtiness of their Jewish affiliation makes them less citizens for you to care about). I wonder how consistent you are with this cold indifference to those who “aren’t American,” assuming that you will no doubt cry out against injustices done against others in this world (or perhaps you only care about Christian blood, forgetting the heart of Paul in places like Ga. 6:10 and the admonishment in Ja. 1:27 [but this is probably only about pure Christian blood like yours, right])? Your lack of care is completely unChristlike and actually I think quite cowardly, for I think that you are demonstrating without saying it (probably because you are too scared to) that you DO believe that the innocent on October 7th deserved it, perhaps because of their unbelief (completely in line with your apologetics for the Crusades), but you just won’t come out and say it. At least the murderers in Hamas and Hezbollah parade their banal (amongst themselves) evil and record it for the world to see; you don’t seem to have the guts to actually follow through with your wicked assertions. Your cry for neutrality is weak and morally stupid, if not reprehensible and incongruous with your previous statements; your very article decrying the way you view Christian leaders assessing the current situation SHOWS you aren’t neutral! How can you be this blind? I wonder, are you neutral when it comes to the Crusades? I don’t need to wonder, I know you aren’t, as you have had a Crusade apologist on your program. Thanks for proving your moral cowardice and inability to properly assess moral atrocities when they occur. As Christians, we shouldn’t assume that we know where people’s loyalties and affections lie; it isn’t a dichotomous issue. One can both have affection for brothers and sisters in the ME and not objectify and reify Jews as “pagans” (which definitionally “they” cannot be termed as such, since Jewish people aren’t monolithic as a hater of them like you wants to make them out to be). I know this won’t change your mind, but I see little to commend you as a brother; I see you as one who no doubt has made a profession of faith and perhaps can even articulate it quite well but, based on what you reveal about the coldness and indifference of your own heart, are in danger of being one of those to whom our Lord will address in a very chilling fashion in Mt. 7:21-23. I strongly urge you, please repent of your Jew-hatred and ask the Lord to give you the heart of the Apostle Paul in Romans 9:1-5 before it is too late…

  14. Innocent people don’t deserve to get murdered, etc. But this wasn’t unprovoked, nor was it the first war between Israel and Palestine. Israel is genociding the Palestinians in response to an attack they somehow let happen. I’m sure you don’t care about the massive suffering they are undergoing. And of course, you hate the Crusades and venerate democracy. You lack a Christian worldview in favor of an oxymoronic Judeo-Christian worldview.

  15. You’ve said it all, sir. Innocent don’t deserve to be murdered, etc., but this was “provoked;” provoked by Israel just existing, and so therefore to some degree, the babies who were burned alive, the women who were raped “had it coming” (I bet your wife would feel so secure knowing that these were your sentiments). There is no such thing as Palestine, btw, only Arabs who have bought the Arafat lie (as you have it seems) that there is an ethnic “Palestinian” group, when at one time all the inhabitants of the land before 1948 were referred to as “Palestinian,” whether they be Jew or Arab. If Israel is “genociding Palestinians” then they are really terrible at it, with letting 2,000,000 Arabs remain full citizens with all rights within the sovereign nation of Israel and the surgical strikes they are engaging in, not turning the ME into a parking lot (which, by your sentiments, you seem to be OK with Israel becoming, no doubt). So, you are buying the Hamas-propaganda too, huh? What a complete joke and farce! And you call yourself a reporter and defender of the truth and faith! I would laugh if it weren’t so demonstrably sad. And I pray every week for all involved in this horrific conflict, knowing that the guilt for all of the bloodshed lies squarely on the shoulders of Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, and apologists for them like you are giving them all the cover they need to continue their horrific war against Israel, Christians, and the West in general (knowing that they live out the code of “loving death as much as Israel loves life”). Yes, any biblical, born-again believer would have serious problems with the sacerdotal nature of the Crusades and would be dumbfounded that a supposed “Protestant” like yourself would carry water for the Roman Catholic-instituted Crusades, how completely and utterly nonsensical! And I do not venerate democracy; I seek to venerate Christ and I am thankful for the way the Lord has allowed a constitutional republic that allows for some level of democratic representation to exist in this country (albeit with its many failures and pitfalls). You may think I lack a Christian worldview, but based on your horrific comments, I would be more concerned about your apparent lack of the indwelling, regenerative, mind-transforming Spirit of God.

  16. Surgical strikes. Do you believe your own nonsense. The numbers don’t lie. They are just mass killing people. 1200 to 30000+. I guess some people are more equal than others in value and worth. I guess churches getting bombed must have had a terrorist hiding in them.

  17. I’m done trying to reason with a Jew-hater. You have not responded intelligibly and are just spouting Al-Jazeera like talking points and nonsense. You can’t prove that Israel is aiming at churches because they’re churches (because they’re not), you refuse to acknowledge the fact that Hamas and their ilk are purposely hiding behind civilians, and whatever I say you aren’t going to change, because you hate Jews, you hate Israel, and your lack of neutrality on this matter though you claim to be neutral is so clear it’s astounding. Please repent of your Jew hatred and trust the Jewish Messiah.

  18. The Israelis hit churches. So are they missing their target (incompetence) or are these churches harboring Hamas and Hezbollah. In either case, it’s not worth martyring believers over, and Christ will avenge them.

  19. A bit off-topic, but I found the following ad on this website:

    “ Hebrew Bible for Christians
    Free Hebrew Bible
Unlock the Scrolls of the Ancient Hebrew Scriptures. Based on ancient Jewish Hebrew texts.
    reserve.messianicbible.com”

    Any thoughts on this?

  20. It’s an ad that’s not a part of a banned category like get rich quick, astrology, etc. So I have no control otherwise over what appears. Ads are based on cookies/chache of the user. But I’m aware of the ironic ads that appear here. I laugh at the irony rather than fret.

  21. For the truth of what Israel is fighting and what this author seems to be excusing:

    hamas-massacre.net

For a recent report of the “blameless, innocent” Turkish government:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVrkrULG1VY

Watch out though, it is (gasp) Israeli news, and we all know that Israelis are incapable of being objective and honest (not like Al-Jazeera and the “Palestinian Health Ministry,” LOL)…

  22. Fava and his cohort is pretty much brainwashed by terrorist torba and the gab psyop who broadcast and propagates open violent hatred and murder against ethnic jews. Very hypocritical to begin with to glorify islamic states that openly will stone and behead infidels which include Jews and Christians alike.

  23. Evangelical Christianity aka preaching the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ openly is outlawed or persecuted in Syria. Stoning(aka capital punishment) of infidels aka Jews and Christians is allowed in any Islamic Majority Nation be it Arab, Asian or your sudden cowardice and bootlicking of the ottomans that butchered armenians and greeks, hypocrite much there.

FYI, Erdogan still wants to take out Greece if he had his way. Perhaps try living in a muslim dominated region of the world before accusing and slandering falsehoods about others to begin with.

“Although all Christian communities come under pressure, historical churches are in a stronger position to defend their rights than those from non-traditional church groups such as Evangelicals, Baptists and Pentecostals.

Those who choose to leave Islam to follow Jesus can face intense pressure from their own families, particularly those living in Sunni regions.”

Being a christian in a prominent position even in a historical land such as Lebanon can cost one’s life.
