The Presbyterian Church in America is one of the most influential Evangelical denominations. It is also in a contentious struggle against liberalism, much of it stemming from the influence of Tim Keller. Recently Daily Wire blew up a story about a PCA church hosting a Blacks only “fellowship” event at a PCA church. To make matters worse, this church had a high-ranking PCA worker speaking at it. Irwyn Ince is a coordinator at the Mission To North America, the same organization that was offering treacherous resources to assist illegal aliens in evading deportation. Though the PCA apologized for the incident, there has been no accountability.
Liberalism in the PCA has yet to invite any real consequences. Although the PCA is posthumously examining the impact of Jesus Calling, they failed to discipline Greg Johnson, a homosexual elder. In sharp contrast, the PCA is going after Zachary Garris for reiterating what the Bible says about slavery.
Is it wrong for Resurrection Oakland to host a Blacks only event. I have two objections.
The first is that it’s a local church doing this. As I am opposed to the freedom of association, the objection is not that the event excludes Whites and Asians. Rather this is not beneficial for the local church to create an event that is overly exclusive. This is not, as this church insists, equivocal to a women’s ministry. Whereas Scripture does allow for boundaries for men and women to have separate ministries (these ministries being useful for older teaching younger), race, and I would add class, are not on the same level for intrachurch segregation. The rich take the same communion as the poor and also the Black from the White.
The more obvious objection is that this event is clearly coded as a Critical Race Theory lecture. As previously referenced, Irwin Ince was part of a ministry that promotes illegal immigration. Moreover, Ince has a history of being on Woke Preacher Clips.
Dr. Irwyn Ince, of Reformed Theological Seminary, says a woman who felt tokenized by a quick invite to serve on a church ministry board is an example of how "the commodifying of black bodies" continues from the days of chattel slavery. pic.twitter.com/9DUAX0tLyg

People are rightly incensed about a church fueling Critical Race Theory, leading to Anthony Bradley’s attacks on Megan Basham. Most importantly, this story is a reminder that wokeness may be retreating in the broader culture, but in Hollywood and the church, there will be devout holdouts. And these wolves in wolf’s clothing must be rooted out.
