Doug Wilson put out two videos in one week attempting to gatekeep Christian Nationalism. This comes after, and in response to, Andrew Torba publishing an unofficial website for Christian Nationalism, to much fanfare. Doug Wilson did a video decrying NETTR (No Enemies To The Right) as an “abused” mantra.
In a clumsy video, Doug Wilson takes nearly 11 minutes to say the tired argument, “God has some enemies to my right, then it follows that I should have them as enemies also.” NETTR was about priorities in who to go after, as people do not have time to attack all the enemies. Therefore, it is a matter of prudence and survival to go after the most threatening enemies.
Doug Wilson whiffs on a World War II analogy whereby he labeled Neville Chamberlain an “appeaser” following Germany’s invasion of Poland. In actuality, he should have referred to Czechoslovakia, but nevertheless, he peddles the revisionist appeasement narrative with no mention of Churchill allying with the greater evil in Josef Stalin.
Doug Wilson also stretches 2 Corinthians 11:19-20 to mean his enemies on his right, when the verse is talking more about silvertongues, something not attributable to far-right influencers.
Doug Wilson accuses Andrew Torba, Stone Choir, Michael Spengler, and Sacra Press of being against any gatekeeping, but each person practices his own friend-enemy distinction, and it’s about time we stop pretending otherwise.
