Doug Wilson is one of the most prominent Evangelical pastors in America today, and his prominence has gained recognition in the political world, whereby TPUSA invited him to their flagship conference, AmFest. But at AmFest, Doug Wilson would go viral for all the wrong reasons. Supposing himself to be wise, Wilson made himself look foolish when bringing up the USS Liberty.
Last thing, and consider this a little bonus round item. I mention it only because I believed that it was brought up at this conference earlier. This topic—I’m making no assertions here. All I am doing is noticing. All I’m doing is asking questions, you know, like Candace does, recklessly connecting dots.
The Liberty was an intelligence gathering ship, and LBJ was president. Israel was in the middle of a hot 1967 war. How confident are you personally that there were not American deep state elements in ’67? How confident are you we weren’t playing both sides and feeding intel to Egypt? How confident are you that America can only be double-crossed and never the double-crosser? Your confidence in the essential goodness of the CIA is endearing.
Whereas Candace Owens is a product of zero trust in the establishment or official narratives, for sinister or benign intentions, the premise of Doug Wilson’s questions is not about US institutions. The premise of his questioning is that Israel was justified in attacking American sailors because the Deep State, CIA, was corrupt. This was derided on the internet as evil and anti-American. Amidst the ensuing backlash, Moscow (Idaho) mobilized a counternarrative. Doug Wilson even chimed in with a clarification.
I said nothing of the kind. I said plainly that I was making no assertions—I was running a reductio on Candace-style questions. And even in the hypothetical, the issue was not what the Liberty was doing, but rather what LBJ’s CIA was doing.
But this wasn’t that. A reductio, being short for “reductio ad absurdum” (Latin for “reduction to absurdity”), is a logical argument technique used to disprove a statement or assumption by showing that accepting it leads to an absurd, contradictory, or impossible conclusion.
Doug Wilson’s exercise at AmFest did not lead to an illogical conclusion. The absurdity was merely that the CIA was untrustworthy to Israel. But the absurdity was lacking because he found a way to blame America for Israeli aggression in a time when, in the eyes of the Zionists, Israel can do no wrong.
This excuse by Doug Wilson is placating some but enter Toby Sumpter, the doofus heir apparent to the Moscow Mood to reassure us we all understood the original clip.
Auron MacIntyre was trying to give Doug Wilson and his word salad excuse the benefit of the doubt, but Sumpter’s highlighting American corruption as responsible for the death of American sailors murdered by Israel blows Doug Wilson’s fig leaf excuse.
But Doug Wilson’s fake debate with Steve Deace would only get worse from here.

Doug hasn’t read the room.
He’s a glib businessman who wants to cozy up to the Jews for reasons of wealth and personal aggrandizement.
What he isn’t is a scholar – he pumps out pap for the masses and pontificates.
Boomer liberals can exit stage left – they have no relevance to civilizational battles.
