Dallas Jenkins Revisits Pride Flag Controversy On The Chosen Set

Jeremy Boreing’s podcast has become a favorite among Christless conservatives, and it does seem like being a fake Christian or “repentant” right winger is a qualification to be a guest on his program. Recently, Dallas Jenkins sat down with Jeremy Boreing in a reunion of sorts for the theater kids grown up. In it, they discuss their contrarian natures and how it shaped their reaction to controversy, namely the pride flag controversy, as the Mormon question was unasked.

Dallas Jenkins reasserted the excuse that he tolerates all things on set, and that he’s responsible for what they put out, failing to mention that he put out content with a demonic sympol proudly displayed. Jeremy Boreing says that he would have policed the set and that that was the difference between he and Jenkins. However, Boreing explicitly states that the reasons for “policing the set” were optical because behind-the-scenes footage is inevitable. Jeremy Boreing has a history of endorsing a particular gay marriage as “edifying” so his lack of apparent conviction against sodomy is unsurprising.

The Candace Scapegoat

The response of Candace Owens at the time is talked about, as she was with The Daily Wire. Owens was supportive of The Chosen; however, Candace Owens, as recounted by Jenkins, would go on to impune the motives of the sodomite with the flags. Jenkins who was once glad to have her support was indignant at the accusation and says of the experience that it taught him that narrative farming required little to no evidence.

But Candace Owens did not actually go too far there. She was extremely reasonable to suggest that the sodomite was being transgressive towards Christianity in having the pride flag on set with the hopes of it being exposed in behind-the-scenes content. Maybe she was wrong about him wanting to be fired, as it turns out that Jenkins really likes this cameraman. But her speculation was tame and within typical gay behavior.

EDW Shoutout

Dallas Jenkins gave an implicit shoutout to Evangelical Dark Web, not by name, over our “Get Used To Gay” thumbnail for The Chosen. Evidently, even he thought it was a good roast.

Ben Zeisloft and Boreing’s Editorial Policy

Jeremy Boreing asserts that the editorial policy during his tenure at The Daily Wire was that non-talent content had to run by him, including articles that were critical to a friend of his.

This sounds egregious, but as someone who runs a small outlet, I can see editing an article critical of someone I am friends with occurring. The Daily Wire is a much larger outlet and this principle becomes increasingly unreasonable at scale.

The Ben Zeisloft article at the time was tame, and the only issue in the article I found was that it treated The Chosen 2CV debate as more settled than it was at the time. Boreing called the article disgusting at the time. Jeremy Boreing says that the incident and Zeisloft’s subsequent departure from The Daily Wire have been lasting wedges to attack him.

Conclusion

Both Boreing and Jenkins agree the so-called outrage economy is the villain more than the sodomical flag. And thus, the whole incident is water under the bridge and nothing to repent over. Two fake Christians sitting down, just like any other episode.
