The long legal process of Brian Houston has concluded with a verdict of NOT GUILTY. Brian Houston was charged with concealing his homosexual pedophile father’s crimes against children in August 2021.
In 2019, an investigation commenced by officers attached to The Hills Police Area Command into reports that Brian Houston had knowingly concealed information relating to child sexual offenses. Following investigations, detectives requested the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) review their brief of evidence. The ODPP provided advice to police, and following further inquiries, detectives served a Court Attendance Notice for conceal serious indictable offence. Police alleged in court that Brian Houston knew information relating to the sexual abuse of a young male in the 1970s and failed to bring that information to the attention of police.
Now, Australian news outlets are reporting Houston’s acquittal.
In delivering his judgment, Magistrate Christofi told the court Mr. Houston was informed by Mr. Sengstock [the victim] and others that he did not wish to make a statement to police, and repeatedly relayed that information to church.
“I‘m not satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that the Crown has proved that the accused, in not reporting the matter to the police, had no regard to the wishes of the complainant for that not to occur,” he said.
“Therefore, I am not satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused did not have a reasonable excuse for not reporting the information he had to the police.
“That being the case one of the elements of the offence before the court remains unproven and therefore must be not guilty.”
Perhaps this will lead to a resurgence of Brian Houston’s reputation in Australia, as Houston has already began his comeback.
