In 2016, Donald Trump said that women who procure illegal abortions should face some sort of punishment. The pro-life industry attacked him. Ted Cruz attacked him, thus letting Trump get to the right of Cruz on this issue in the primary. That is a much different tone on the issue than the Donald Trump of 2023.
In a recent interview on NBC, Donald Trump refused to say whether he would sign a 15 week federal ban of abortion, and moreover attacked Ron DeSantis for signing a heartbeat bill that several Republican governors have signed.

It’s a bold strategy to attack a bill that was signed in Iowa this past summer at the Family Leadership Summit which Trump skipped. Moreover, let the listener understand that Trump is telling you that he would not sign a 15 week ban which is extremely permissive of abortion, stopping only a small percentage.
