John Rich, Tucker Carlson vs Pretribulation Rapture

Tucker Carlson has been interested in exploring and at times exposing corrupting influences in Christianity, despite his infancy in the faith. John Rich, the country music star best known for “Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy), has, since becoming famous, returned to the roots of his faith, producing Christian music. The latest song he’s promoting is “Revelation.” During his interview with Tucker Carlson, John Rich attacks pretribulation rapture theology.

John Rich is not without factual errors in his argumentation. He claims that John Nelson Darby was influenced by the Rothchilds, a famous Zionist family. While Zionism was in its infancy during the time of Darby, there is no evidence that he was influenced by the Rothchilds. Moving forward, Rich claimed that Cyrus Scofield’s Bible was the first ever Bible with notes/ commentary which is also untrue, as the 1599 Geneva Bible was the first English Bible to contain reference notes. It is true, however, that Cyrus Scofield was connected to Zionist lawyer Samuel Untermeyer who is widely speculated to have funded the Scofield Bible. These claims make sense as Cyrus Scofield was perpetually broke, failed to provide for his wife and kids, and was therefore unlikely to have funded the Bible printing.

John Rich interestingly avoids the question of Modern Jews and Israel, even as Tucker Carlson brings up the foreign policy implications of dispensationalism. He goes after pretribulation rapture for being unsubstantiated in Scripture and giving way to complacency. The two texts that John Rich emphasizes are 2 Thessalonians 2 where he argues that Christians will see the apostacy and the antichrist and Matthew 24 where he takes a strictly chronological interpretation and concludes that Christians will endure the tribulation. Ironically he doesn’t read the part of Matthew 24 that most debunks a pretribulation rapture:

37 For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. 38 For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left.

Matthew 24:37-41 NASB1995

In this, Jesus teaches that the reprobate were taken away during the days of Noah, and likewise, the reprobate are taken away from the earth in the end of days. Being raptured is bad, actually. The people not “taken” are the elect in this passage.

John Rich seems to argue for a post-tribulation rapture, in that the elect are caught up and usher Jesus as he returns.

But his decision to avoid the dispensational debate is interesting, as dispensational theology can hardly be separated from pretribulation rapture, as dispensationalism is key to filling in the gaps between the rapture and the final return of Christ.

Elsewhere in the interview, John Rich gives a great explanation of Lordship Salvation and repentance that are worth watching.

  1. Responding the the Rothschild idea on your youtube live stream. I thought that the argument is that Rothschild financed the distribution of that Bible in the US. I don’t know then they would have to be contemporaries. I was taught the doctrine of the Rapture came from a woman who spoke in tongues in a Plymouth Brethren Church and it was interpreted as the Doctrine of the Rapture. But I don’t know the history of the PB in England. The Brethren I have known were cessationists. (Read a very short book called “The Rapture Cult” written by a Wheaton College Proof in the 1970’s. Belonged to my father I read it as a kid.
I wondered what you thought of Vance having converted to Roman Catholicism? Seems like a strange bedfellow with Trumps beliefs.

  2. it is sad that well meaning (but gullible) country americans have been brainwashed by this jewish-funded doctrine. of course it was planned. scofield sold his soul and gave his name to a jewish-written doctrine. capture the heartland and control the soul of america. worked for 100 years. now people are waking up, and there will be anger against these liars. will they softly admit their treachery or will they continue to try to deny they were behind an attempt to capture middle america for zionist purposes. and will those captured and hoodwinked by this false docrtine be able to put down their pride and admit they have been had?

god bless, love the site ray, i’ll give you some money towards it when i have a steady job.
