Andy Woodard has been a rising star in the TMS circles (and for a time G3) ever since 2021 when he went viral for being a pastor in New York willing to defy covid mandates. However, the ongoing Christian Nationalist debate has reduced his potential audience considerably, as he became one of the most vocal anti-Christian Nationalist pastors for a time, speaking at Michael O’Fallon’s conference last year. But disturbing news has come out about Andy Woodard and the sins that have led him to be ousted from Providence Baptist Church in New York.
James Silberman, the right-hand man of Dusty Deevers, composed a report of Andy Woodard’s behavior and charges against him. These charges were made by he and two others and, thus are on the basis of two or three witnesses, although Woodard was ousted from Providence, and this is making the reasons why public.
For the second time in four years, Andy Woodard has fled church discipline from his own members. The purpose of this document is to love Christ’s people by warning the Church that Woodard is plainly disqualified from the office of pastor, has hurt a lot of people in his congregations and outside of it, and remains unrepentant.
We sincerely wish there was a way to adequately handle the situation without having to do so publicly. Had Andy humbled himself and submitted to church discipline or taken this situation as an opportunity to reflect, step away from ministry, and improve his character, this would not have to be published. But he has done the opposite. He has rejected authority, fled church discipline again, and continued his ministry by preaching at another church the very week after his resignation, continuing in his leadership role with a parachurch ministry, and posting sermons on YouTube.
Evidently, Andy Woodard was run out of his prior church on bad terms before joining Providence Baptist Church and rising through the ranks of The Master’s Seminary graduates.
Charges
1. Woodard filed for an unjustified divorce from his wife on March 20th and hid it from the church for six weeks while continuing to preach.
a. Matthew 5:32, Proverbs 28:13.
Andy Woodard hid his divorce proceedings from his congregation which is on its own disqualifying, as the nature of the charge does not justify his actions. Rather, it is on Andy where fidelity issues are alleged.
2. Woodard fled church discipline twice from two different churches, first in August 2020 and again from his most recent church in April 2024.
a. Matthew 18:15-18.
b. The authors of this letter have reviewed the 2020 church discipline charges against Woodard that were affirmed by nearly all of the members of his previous church. While we are not witnesses to the conduct described there, we affirm that the conduct described in the 19 charges from 2020 is consistent with what we have seen from Woodard.
3. While married, Woodard acted toward a young woman in a way that was perceived by others in the church as flirtatious and forward toward her. When this was reported to an older man in the church, the man forbade Woodard from communicating with the young woman without supervision. Woodard then began secretly emailing her.
Woodard’s previous church is not named, nor did they go public to warn other churches about Woodard’s conduct. 19 charges is no insignificant matter.
On multiple occasions, Woodard acted to unjustifiably sabotage the God-honoring dating relationships of multiple members by slandering prospective boyfriends or husbands of unmarried women in the congregation. On one occasion, Woodard destroyed the reputation of a young, Christian man at the church by slandering him to many in the church as an unbeliever and driving him out of the church simply because the young man asked out to coffee the young woman who Andy was communicating with inappropriately in point #3 of this document.
a. Exodus 20:16, 20:17, 20:14.
b. Allan Chang was personally discipling the young man and can attest that he was sincere in his faith.
This charge shows a level of pettiness, in that, Andy Woodard, while married, attacked the reputation of rival suitors to women in the congregation he wanted for himself. Allan Chang, one of the authors of the report, vows for the individual slandered.
3. While married, Woodard regularly spent time alone with single women in the church; sometimes going on walks alone with them and once flying across the country alone with a young woman.
a. Exodus 20:14, Matthew 5:28, 1 Timothy 3:2.
4. Woodard gossipped and slandered regularly. On numerous occasions, he spread personal and extremely hurtful gossip and slander about numerous people in the church and outside of it, including his own family.
a. Exodus 20:16. James 3:1-12.
Anastasia Silberman was a member of Providence Church since Woodard founded it in the fall of 2020 until marrying James Silberman in October 2022. It’s worth noting that Andy Woodard attacked people for abandoning his church in New York City to live in better parts of the country. Allen Chang, the third witness, was a member from 2022 until June 2024 when he left due to this situation. Silberman admonishes the current church for not disclosing this this the public so that other churches might be warned, as Andy Woodard apparently is preaching elsewhere and still involved with his parachurch ministry. Update: the 2020 church did warn ministries connected to Andy Woodard but not publicly.
One Response
I’m confused by the last paragraph. Who is Anastasia? Why was Andy hired by a Christian organization while in open unrepentant sin?
