The political mandate of Donald Trump has brought out many sour grapes, but perhaps the sourest grape of all is that of former Vice President Mike Pence, who was discarded in favor of JD Vance.
With the recent appointments being declared by Donald Trump, which has included Marco Rubio as Secretary of State and Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been appointed as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Following RFK Jr.’s endorsement of Trump on the campaign trail, it was highly speculated that he would play a key role in the second Trump Administration, and so Trump has fulfilled his promise by giving him this cabinet position. This was part of the coalition to win over his small percentage, yet significant enough voting base. The HHS Secretary was widely speculated as one probable role he would have in the Administration.
Leave it to none other than Mike Pence to come out against RFK Jr over all issues, his stance on abortion. Pence issued a statement on RFK Jr’s appointment:
For the majority of his career, RFK Jr. has defended abortion on demand during all nine months of pregnancy, supports overturning the Dobbs decision and has called for legislation to codify Roe v Wade. If confirmed, RFK, Jr. would be the most pro-abortion Republican appointed secretary of HHS in modern history. The pro-life movement has always looked to the Republican party to stand for life, to affirm an unborn child has a fundamental right to life which cannot be infringed.
This sentiment that he was unworthy was shared by various abolitionists who oppose RFK Jr.’s for the same issue that they opposed voting for Donald Trump.
For Pence to call RFK Jr. the most “pro-abortion appointed secretary of HHS in modern history” ignores his actual history on the issue of abortion. The Kennedy campaign was far from dogmatic on the issue. Initially, Kennedy supported a more European style of regulation of abortion ban, only allowing first-trimester abortions, but as the campaign went on, he became more supportive of abortion through all nine months as is commonly ascribed to him. This was more likely a reaction to media or political pressure on the issue. Even though Kennedy is the most “pro-abortion” that is not his pet issue and never has been. He is hardly a radical. Much like Trump, it is unlikely RFK Jr. will do much on the issue of abortion, but rather, he might benefit various pro-life clinics and Catholic hospitals through his oversight of HHS. Likewise, Children’s Health Defense has long called out the dangers of the Gardasil vaccine, of which the side effects include infertility in women.
Mike Pence, and those listening to him, are intentionally missing the forest for the trees. RFK Jr. is spearheading Trump’s promise to “Make America Healthy Again.” He has been a leading voice in calling out the vaccine industry, Big Pharma, and even Big Agriculture for the chemicals and medicines that have adverse side effects on humans. He wants to turn the tide on chronic diseases, of which America is amongst the worst in the developed world.
What was once an Alex Jones joke about atrazine “turning the frogs gay” is now an issue being taken seriously by the incoming administration. RFK Jr has also spoken to other common chemicals like Fluoride, which lowers IQ; Tartrazine (yellow dye), which causes ADD and ADHD; and other chemicals commonly consumed in everyday products, many of which are banned in other countries. Chemicals in the food and water are harming Americans, and it is no secret that the food companies sought to make their products more addicting during the late 80’s and early 90’s.
RFK Jr. represents a chance to drastically improve the food supply in only a few years, something that would benefit all Americans. Christians should support a healthier society, and so should support RFK Jr. to that end. Christians should be healthy, not overweight, and overjoyed at the prospect of reduced risks of chronic diseases through the removal of dangerous chemicals from the food and water supply. This would be a major win for Christian families.
That Mike Pence disagrees with Trump on this selection is unsurprising, but Mike Pence has a history of bad political instincts. He did, after all, lie on the floor of the US Congress to saber raddle support for the Iraq War, falsely claiming that Saddam had WMDs. As governor, he capitulated on RFRA and bent the knee to the Rainbow Jihad. He is a failed politician. He is a sour grape. But he attacks RFK Jr. on the one issue that is relevant to his Evangelical supporters to garner attention.
The last thing Christian Abolitionists should be doing is echoing Mike Pence. They already conducted themselves poorly and in bad faith, purity spiraling during the election cycle while taking L’s in eight out of ten states on ballot measures. No one will be swayed to become pro-life by those who are denouncing RFK Jr. Rather, supporting RFK’s appointment for a better quality of food and water is supporting life itself. Given his agenda and reputation, countersignaling RFK Jr. is most certainly a losing strategy that might feel righteous at the moment but will fail in the long run.

Exactly. Pence is a neo-con at his core. The abolitionists aren’t helping either right now.
Pence doesn’t have a lot of political capital to cash in here. Even if I agreed with his point, many in Classic GoP still dont’ realize the venue to fight abortion is now in the 50 states where it should have always been.
Who cares what this milquetoast traitor has to say about anything?! Pence will never be relevant again. He blew his chances and “Life has passed him by.” Good riddance. Just ignore him and he’ll eventually go away.
