One of the interesting subjects covered at Evangelical Dark Web is the drama that occurs in Conservative Inc. While such infighting and scandal is taboo for the players to cover, such moments reveal fault lines along the American right and often times, properly directed outrage can ignite reactions from the industry, as was most notably seen with Dave Rubin’s surrogacy.
The latest infighting comes between The Blaze’s Jason Whitlock and Daily Wire CEO and “god-king” Jeremy Boreing over Whitlock’s take on Andrew Tate and his rebuttal to Ben Shapiro’s “Free Derek Chauvin campaign being the primary theaters, both of which ultimately point to a larger fissure on the Right. Jason Whitlock has long been more of a cultural critic than a political pundit, while Boreing has long sought to enter into the entertainment business.
Whitlock on Andrew Tate
This past week, Whitlock came out with a new take on Andrew Tate, a former pornographer/pimp who has become an influencer for GenZ due to his manosphere takes. While on Patrick Bet David, Tate articulated a similar position on the Second World War that has been posited by Martyr Made on Tucker Carlson, Pat Buchanan, and other WW2 revisionists who question US involvement ex post facto. Nevertheless, nothing he said was unique or particular to Tate, but Whitlock contemplated the utility of Tate being able to package those arguments to a different audience amidst a more pressing information war. He further contends that the youth listen to Tate because of the weakness posited by church leaders, which creates a void that the pimp then occupies.
Jeremy Boreing wrongfully contends that Whitlock is justifying Tate. It certainly is a fact that the weakness of the church to acknowledge the struggles of the youth, particularly in the dating market, allows creatures like Tate to rise to prominence—often regurgitating talking points from figures in the early 2000s who created the “redpill.” While Whitlock perhaps overstates the influence of Tate over the youths, there is a “Jester’s privilege” attached to Tate where he can speak certain truths while he plays the character of a pimp living large with fancy cars, houses, women, and yachts.
Again, the comparison with Andrew Tate is similar to that of the Conservative alliance with Elon Musk. Musk brought money, influence, and talent to the table, which was pivotal to Trump’s coalition while appealing to normal, everyday men; however, Musk’s personal life is wrought with repeated uses of IVF, a litter of children from multiple women, and technocratic impulses. The argument for Tate’s utility is that he can reach these Zoomer men, who are already trending in the right direction.
In many ways, Whitlock is projecting his own personal failures into why the youths prefer Tate to someone like him. Tate was not necessary for the Trump coalition, and the Right has much appeal with the Zoomers without him. The Red-pill Manosphere content that Tate speaks to is an issue that many on the right wrongfully dismiss at a time when politics is increasingly divided by sex.
Free Derek Chauvin
Also this past week, Ben Shapiro launched a “Free Derek Chauvin” petition to garner support for President Trump to give Chauvin a pardon on the federal “civil rights” charges he previously pled guilty to after being convicted for the death of St. George Floyd. That the website is tied directly to the Daily Wire is obvious for all to see.
Whitlock responded to this by calling it a “dumb idea” that could ultimately backfire for Chauvin, as he would be remanded to a state prison which could be worse for his survival while perhaps proving counter-intuitive to his other legal efforts by rendering his appeal moot. Whitlock argues that Shapiro was “collecting marketing emails” to sell Daily Wire subscriptions as a means to stem the bleeding subscribers they have lost from the departures of Candace Owens and Brett Cooper—neither of which were on positive terms.
The shrewdness of Shapiro’s actions cannot be underestimated. Given how lambasted Daily Wire’s reputation has become, and Shapiro’s declining influence (not to be confused with audience size), it is clear that Shapiro is staking out a right-wing position as a means to improve the Daily Wire’s brand, yet there is no path of action other than gathering emails.
Doubtless, Whitlock is correct that this was nothing more than a publicity stunt, and does little to offset rumors that Boreing’s Hollywood ambitions are financially draining the Daily Wire. In many ways, the Daily Wire personalities were just people who failed in Hollywood, so they transitioned into politics.
The Real Issue
The glue that binds the Jeremy Boreing-Jason Whitlock feud is the Jewish Question or Noticing. The Daily Wire is outwardly a pro-Zionist outlet, and while there are Catholic personalities present, the “protestants” are extremely liberal, like Andrew Klavan, or libertarian, like the “god-king” Boreing, but no one there questions Zionism or disproportionate Jewish influence. The “Christian Zionist” Wilks brothers, who gave the initial funding for the Daily Wire, are not actually Christians because their church, Assembly of Yahweh (7th Day), rejects the Trinity. This is evident when Boreing posits that Ben Shapiro could cure cancer and Whitlock would object—the implication being that Whitlock hates Jews. In reality, Whitlock is just a Noticer, but in this circumstance, his criticisms of Daily Wire had nothing to do with Judaism.
Noticing Jewish influence and behavioral patterns is a growing fault line on the Right, and it extends even into the Church. The other fault line is feminism, as that too is also a taboo subject in Con. Inc. As the youth—both within and without the church- become increasingly hostile towards US support for Israel, this has sparked numerous conflicts. Even in dispensational churches, the young men are rejecting the doctrine. The central objection to Christian Nationalism derives from this generational clash. So too the disdain by certain figures in Con Inc towards JD Vance, who signifies a generational shift away from Zionism. There is a reason James Lindsay and Michael O’Fallon are hostile towards Vance—because, despite his foreign wife, 48 embodies the future of the American Right.
Conclusion
Conservative Inc. has no qualms about hiring e-girls and prostitutes, but men like Jeremy Boreing or Joel Berry draw the line at pimps. If anything, they could use a pimp to oversee all the harlots. A creature like Andrew Tate fits like a glove in an industry that promotes attractive women and simp culture to its audience rather than stand up for truth. Look no further than the prominent female politicians paraded on the Right, such as Nancy Mace, Lauren Boebert, and Marjorie Taylor Greene—all of whom have sex scandals while claiming to support traditional values. The hypocrisy of an industry and movement has created a void that is exploited by Tate, who is perhaps trying to cultivate this brand to generate support amidst his ongoing legal struggles. Conservative Inc. has never been about truth but containment.
The era of Daily Wire or Fox News being the gatekeeper of conservative media is finished. Daily Wire is fighting for relevance and subscribers through this “Free Derek Chauvin” publicity stunt. They might have large followings, but they have little influence. The era of the Containment Right is over.
