The Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission is the political arm of the Southern Baptist Convention, yet it seldom represents the views of the largest conservative denomination in the United States. On Thursday, a federal appellate court upheld the laws in both Tennessee and Kentucky preventing the mutilation of children for the purposes of transgenderism. Yesterday, Brent Leatherwood attempted to take an undeserved victory lap at this ruling.
Vulnerable children must be protected from the whims of the sexual revolution.

The two specific proposals to end harmful gender transition procedures we highlighted in our 2023 state policy review can now move forward thanks to a 6th Circuit ruling. https://t.co/yjSAHuQkfc
This also included a Baptist Press article that embellished his contribution to the law’s passage in the SBC’s backyard. Presupposing to have contributed to the law’s passage, the record of the ERLC is that they publicly came out in support for gun control in Tennessee as their priority policy proposal.
On the issue of transgenderism, Brent Leatherwood has actively worked to suppress the manifesto of the Covenant School shooter despite the wishes of the parents because the manifesto would harm the transvestite cause.
Why were you and @ERLC silent when @MattWalshBlog was working to pass this child mutilation ban in your own state but zealous to pass a red flag law?
