Donald Trump drew a lot of criticism from Evangelical influencers and pro-life activists for his inability to articulate an opposition to Amendment 4, an effort to codify abortion in Florida. His nonanswer was seen as tacit support for Amendment 4 which angered many pro-life voters, while not winning over the pro-abortion vote. However, Trump has announced his opposition to Amendment 4 after the backlash.
Â
Trump once more denounces the Florida 6-week ban but equates it with the Democrat’s ambitions for 9 months and even post-birth. And for that reason he intends to vote no.
It’s clear that after the earlier noncommittal answer, Trump figured he needed to course correct and has done so. Voting “no” on Amendment 4 is the minimum that a pro-life voter can do in the state of Florida. and it’s a sigh of relief to many that Donald Trump is no longer undercutting the pro-life ballot efforts in Florida.
Another reaction has been that Trump has finally responded to pressure from his base, which is one of the best features of Trump that his predecessors on the Republican ballot did not share.
