The Real David Platt has been an eye-opening documentary even to those who have been reporting on the corruption at McLean Bible Church for years. In Part 1, the former members of McLean Bible Church revealed documents that exposed David Platt and the elders’ lies to the congregation, specifically about joining the Southern Baptist Convention and financial matters. Part 2 is more scattered in its material; however, it does contain a bombshell of McLean Bible Church mishandling a child sex abuse situation with one of their volunteers.
The story that the documentary tells, with primary source videos, meeting minutes, and statements, is that in December 2016, allegations of (Rodney) Scott Woods who was a volunteer at “The Rock” which is a youth program at MBC. Scott Woods was revealed to be officially removed from membership in September 2018, although he had left the church voluntarily before that. Moreover, the families of the victims reportedly sent Lon Solomon a 130 page document providing “indisputable evidence” to Scott Wood’s criminal conduct in July 2017. It’s clear that the accusations are crimes, and that there were multiple victims. However, McLean did not tell their church about this until 2018 and with scant details about what occurred and where. Lon Solomon commented on the situation stating that he had been removed from any operating capacity in early 2017 and has had nothing to do with MBC since he left.
The documentary details multiple instances where the elders lie to Lon Solomon and keep information away from him. There is no indication that McLean Bible Church informed the police about a sex abuse instance. However, the documentary does show an officer trespass church members insisting that they “not argue the law” even though the charges were thrown out in court. So MBC was willing to take their own members to court but not someone who endangered the youth. The documentary alleges that Scott Woods was quietly removed.
David Platt is on recording saying, “I see dropped balls all over the place.” The allegations came forth before David Platt was installed as the senior pastor at MBC.
Despite there being an entire industry related to abuse in the church, little coverage has been given to McLean Bible Church’s mishandling of sex abuse. Julie Roys, Rachael DenHollander, and other so-called advocates are silent on this story.

Good point. Since Platt has no ties to MacArthur Julie Roys can’t be bothered.
But speaking of JR, did you see she’s promoting a new podcast targeting Doug Wilson? Called the Sons of Patriarchy. Look at the list of contributors:
“The podcast will include input from a range of theologians, historians and religious figures, including Christianity Today Editor-in-Chief Russell Moore, New York Times columnist David French, historians Kristin Kobes Du Mez and Beth Allison Barr, The Roys Report founder Julie Roys, as well as Rachael Denhollander, an attorney and anti-abuse activist who was among the victims of Gymnastics USA doctor Larry Nassar.”
