The Gospel Coalition is one of the largest online ministries in America despite over a decade of liberal subversion, most notably infusing Marxism into the church and undermining doctrine on sexuality (more on that below.) The Gospel Coalition’s announced lineup for TGC25 includes a plethora of who’s who in Big Eva’s good graces, landing some of the biggest names in Evangelicalism willing to be platformed at a liberal conference. Some of the key headliners include Alistair Begg, John Piper, and David Platt.
Alistair Begg has been canceled from radio and ShepCon after Evangelical Dark Web broke the story of Begg counseling a grandmother to attend a gay wedding. Evidently, The Gospel Coalition has fewer scruples.
John Piper has been woke for a long time. He was writing back in 2016 that in order to not be racist, you had to be antiracist. Moreover, he’s an anabaptist who does not believe in using lethal force to protect his own wife. This also bleeds into his Democrat-leaning politics which included four years ago soothing the conscience of Biden voters.
Then there is David Platt who has been in the news a lot lately due to a documentary exposing his misdeeds to a much wider audience. Even the liberal media has glomed onto the story. It will be interesting to see if The Gospel Coalition will cancel David Platt, specifically over his lying to his congregation about joining the Southern Baptist Convention. This seems unlikely, as this was known before, but they would never cancel Platt for being woke, so it’s worth asking what offense Platt could do to get canceled by Big Eva.
These are just the keynotes. The rest of the lineup is full of problematic figures. A number of them have been key proponents of Side B Theology, teaching that homosexual and transvestite desires and identity are not sins. These include Sam Allberry, the founder of Living Out, Rachel Gilson, and Rebecca McLaughlin. Gavin Ortlund, a prominent liberal YouTuber who goes to Sam Allberry’s church is also a speaker.
Daniel Akin president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (arguably the wokest SBC seminary) is a speaker. Also speaking is Ligon Duncan whose liberalism has not kept him out of MacArthur’s speaker rotation. Duncan endorsed Eric Mason’s Woke Church. Anti-Christian Nationalist author, Patrick Miller is speaking. Jen Wilkin is speaking as well.
This truly is a marquee conference for liberal Evangelicals.
