The 2024 Election is here and today is the last day to vote. This election cycle, a lot has been made about self-proclaimed Christians refusing to vote. Now while certain estimates of Christian inactivity are alarming, the truth is that Christians are voting more now than in previous elections ie 2012. Thus, many dollars have been spent attempting to subvert the Evangelical voting bloc. Additionally, this week multiple fake Christians voting for Kamala have gone viral in an astroturf campaign to make it seem normal. But I believe all Christians should vote, and my argument is simple.
Many self-proclaimed Abolitionists scoff at the idea of voting for Donald Trump because of his wavering on abortion. No doubt, Trump has been disappointing in this regard, but he is joining DeSantis in voting against the abortion amendment in Florida, and abortion will not be a major federal issue in the foreseeable future. A more pressing concern is the FACE Act, a federal legislation from the Clinton era that was made to go after pro-life activists. The Biden administration with the vengeful Attorney General Merrick Garland, who is Jewish, has made it a personal hobby to prosecute according to the FACE Act. 9 activists have been sentenced to federal prison, thus dubbed the Garland 9 by their supporters.
Perhaps Abolitionists are going to claim the moral high ground when their people are getting thrown in prison, but I would rather vote so that they may be pardoned and none more may join them. I highly doubt the Garland 9 insists that we not vote for Trump because of his stance on abortion.
Bringing Garland’s Bolshevik reign of terror to an end, so that nine innocent people may go free is worth it. Although I make specific mention of the Garland 9, who can forget the many political prisoners of January 6, who also deserve their freedom restored? The weaponization of law enforcement was not merely against Donald Trump, it was also against many people on our side.
I also believe immigration is the number one issue. Though Trump is not as great on abortion, I do believe he is malleable to be moved to a more border-hawkish stance. I do believe the mass deportation rhetoric will inspire action. Will it be enough? Time will tell. But if there’s only a 20% chance Trump is serious about abortion, I will take those odds and work towards those ends.
Below is a sample ballot of how I intend to vote.
Voting is not the height of citizenship and activism, it is a starting point. Identity politics and bloc voting successfully ensures that our interests get catered to. If Christians, fail to vote, we will have no leverage with the victorious administration. If we succeed, as allies we will be rewarded. Perhaps the underwhelming turnout of Christians is why most politicians suck and their governance lacks a fear of God.
In 2020, I voted Trump to stand with my fellow Evangelicals. In 2024, I will vote Trump for the freedom of my allies, the prosperity of my family, the repatriation of foreign invaders, and to be a witness for Christ.
