Of all the people failing upward to become the next Russell Moore, one name that stands out is Dan Darling. In 2020 and 2021, Daniel Darling would emerge as a leading figure in Evangelicalism pushing the Covid jabs on the church, even partaking in a Zuckerberg-funded event to facilitate churches becoming jab sites. Darling’s ambition to jab the whole church got him fired from National Religious Broadcasters. Before that he served the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention for six years. Last week, it was announced that Daniel Darling would return to the liberal advocacy group.
While Darling grew in notoriety for being a Russell Moore wannabee and jab huckster, since then Darling has been the right-hand beta of Richard Land at the Land Center. Richard Land was the previous head of the ERLC before Russell Moore was. Land was and is also a liberal who advocates amnesty. But combined, Land and Darling were the top two shills for Ukraine in Evangelicalism, even as Ukraine’s outlook worsens.
The Southern Baptist Convention announced that Darling would serve as the “church engagement strategist” which is a new position. Meanwhile Darling would continue to double dip Cooperative Program dollars as the Land Center is an outgrowth of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
The Southern Baptist Convention continues to grow more liberal with this hire, and the ERLC has long shown it’s incapable of being a force for good. Worse than a waste of money, the ERLC is an apparatus to enrich liberals in the SBC.

That name Richard Land, sounds familiar, a decade ago I lived in an area that had a radio network AFR – American Family Radio. Which was seemingly up and coming at the time. Makes me wonder what else might be going on at AFR.
Oh, I didn’t realize Alister Begg was on AFR and then booted after the debacle earlier in 2024. Wow.
The position “church engagement strategist” sounds like “diversity push department” to me.
One of the many reasons I don’t miss the SBC. Their leadership always disappoints.
