Andy Stanley has long been an obvious false teacher. Son of the late Charles Stanley, Andy Stanley has departed and embraced theological liberalism and seeker sensitivity. For over a decade, Andy Stanley openly affirmed homosexuality, yet Evangelicalism largely ignored this compromise until 2023.
In 2012, Andy Stanley preached a sermon titled “When Gracie Met Truthie” in which he told a 12-minute story about homosexual adultery. During the course of explaining how a man left his wife for another man, Andy Stanley explains that the moral dilemma was that the other man was still married to his wife. At this point, Andy Stanley drew the line and said that ongoing adultery barred people from serving in the church. During the illustration, Andy Stanley made no hint at homosexuality being a sin, and at the end, joked about it being a “modern family,” a reference to a popular TV show at the time.
On Friday, Protestia unveiled a leaked training video used in Stanley’s North Point Community Church.
Exclusive: leaked LGBTQ training video from Andy Stanley’s church instructs leaders to affirm trans children because if everyone else in that child’s life is affirming them:

“We cannot be the *last place* a (trans) student feels comfortable.”

The training video is designed for minsters to students or small groups. It makes the argument that if a child becomes a transvestite, and everywhere else affirms the perversion, it would be bad if the church was the only place not affirming the child’s transgenderism. He tells the story of a child being told by a church that, because they had known him since he was 5 years old, they would not go along with it.
The reasoning of this alleged church was their unwillingness to change rather than their adherence to doctrine and praxis. The video then goes on about how lengthy the “journey” of transgenderism is detailing the surgeries that may not even work, according to him. 75% of students do not make a “full transition,” according to the presenter.
The video ends by concluding with a story that ends in a detransition without the self-awareness that they contributed to a student’s self-harm.
Although North Point is entirely gay affirming, their seeker-sensitive argumentation is exactly in line with Preston Sprinkle’s curriculum that was featured in Cru, a prominent college campus ministry.
