Jennifer Lyell was announced dead on Sunday after suffering multiple strokes at the age of 47. Lyell is being hailed by liberal media as a sexual abuse survivor as a result of a false narrative meant to attack the church. Additionally, her death is being used to attack Megan Basham who is the most prominent media figure who pointed out the false narrative.
The term sex abuse is reserved for instances where children are preyed on. Often abusers condition these children for abuse (grooming), and they have multiple victims. Jennifer Lyell was a 26 year old seminary student when the “grooming” took place. She would later become the highest ranking female executive in the SBC being at Lifeway. Even by an erroneous, liberal, power-dynamics argument, David Sills did not abuse Lyell.
There is a major assumption that this relationship was unilaterally manipulative turned out to be a retroactive narrative. In 2019, the Baptist Press would apologize for its initial reporting on this story because it did not label the incident sex abuse based on Lyell’s own words.
Lyell also makes several claims of criminal actions that David Sills has committed, including breaking and entering into her house, numerous threats of violence against her and Al Mohler, and sexual assault.
Additionally, she claims a larger degree of police involvement, yet there is no record of police involvement according to Megan Basham’s reporting. The lack of police records despite a clear allegation of Sills breaking and entering is a demonstrable hole in the narrative that the Southern Baptist Convention has been peddling.
These lies were used to castigate Southern Baptists as a denomination that proliferated and covered up sex abuse, as the prominent example in the Guidepost Solutions Report in 2022. And even though this report uncovered zero instances of unknown sexual abuse, the narrative remained pervasive.
The legacy of Jennifer Lyell is of a slanderer who refused to take responsibility for her own sin and thus was used by wicked people to attack the body of believers.

Big news worthy of a video
What is the status of the litigation by David Sills?
Meanwhile, Ministry Watch promotes the victim narrative: https://ministrywatch.com/jennifer-lyell-sbc-abuse-survivor-and-former-lifeway-executive-has-died/
Still ongoing. But I don’t believe she was deposed.
She was deposed in April 2025. Discovery has been ongoing > 1 year, no doubt contributing to her stress.
Is she the one who the SBC paid a million dollar settlement to?
Regardless of the veracity of her claims, I support her, because a million dollars in her pocket means a million dollars less that the SBC has available to promote jew worship, zionism, holocaust guilt, cultural marxism, open borders, race-mixing, miscegenation, and other forms of degeneracy.
I hope lots of more people will sue the SBC, so the SBC goes bankrupt 🙂
