The JD Greear Unmasked documentary series, produced by Church Reform Initiative, has ongoing fallout. The story of JD Greear’s attempt at a hostile takeover of Faith Baptist Church in Knightdale, North Carolina, is an affront to Baptist polity, as JD Greear was part of a conspiracy to run FBC Knightdale into insolvency so that it could acquire tens of millions of dollars in assets for pennies on the dollar. The plan failed as the church members took their delinquent elders to court, Greear’s Summit Church ordered a surrender right before Greear was to be deposed.
Bart Barber denounced the documentary in an ongoing beef with Joe Rigney, stating:
But these hit-piece faux “documentaries” are beneath Christian ethics.
Bart Barber succeeded Ed Litton who did not seek reelection as Southern Baptist president after a plagiarism scandal whereby he preached identical sermons to JD Greear. Bart Barber elected be the liberal majority in the SBC proceeded for an incompetent tenure as president that invited numerous lawsuits and financial instability to the SBC.
In short, Bart Barber was a continuation of JD Greear’s legacy in the SBC, so it is no surprise that he is defending his actions in North Carolina.

Nobody can complain about “Christian ethics” who is ok with multi-campus megachurches that display the preacher from another location on a big screen.
