The massive personalities in Evangelicalism who jockey for clout and market share have led to unnecessary divides over the years. G3 Ministries was the biggest example from 2023 where their personalities caused unwarranted strife paired with their unwillingness to discuss disagreements. But in the past few months, it’s Apologia that has become unduly divisive.
Recently we’ve covered how James White has attacked Christians for liking memes and supporting the Crusades. Also in the James White sphere is Jeff Durbin, pastor of Apologia Church.
Right Response Ministries is hosting its conference next April and it has one of the best, most unifying lineup of speakers I’ve ever seen in a Christian conference. AD Robles announced yesterday, however, that Jeff Durbin has reneged on his commitment to speaking at the conference because of his unwillingness to “share a stage” with Stephen Wolfe over alleged social media behavior. James White would also separately announce Jeff Durbin’s absence in a struggle session conducted by the liberal Blake Callens:
Neither James White nor Jeff Durbin are fans of Stephen Wolfe, and their public disagreements have been made into broader issues, as they use this conference to bolster their piety rather than edify the church.
The Unnecessary War
AD Robles rightly points out that this is embarrassing for Jeff Durbin and that this conflict is ill-advised since Christians do not have the numbers to be divided over trivial matters. A lot of Christians united to fight the wokeness of Critical Race Theory, but other forms of wokeness persist and challenge the institutionalized liberalism in our culture. This has led some groups who fought Critical Race Theory to split off from believers, the Christian Nationalists, who want to return to more traditional Christian thinking.

I wish you all would realize that Christian Nationalism is the sect, the niche, and the dividers. Just because you have some YouTube pastors with some subscribers throwing a conference, doesn’t mean this is “the thing”. I don’t say this to tear down, but to try and open your eyes. No one knows who you all are outside of websites like this. Go and ask any Christian at a real church, let’s say in the OPC or the RPCNA. Ask them if they know what Christian Nationalism is, who Wolfe is, who Right Response is. The vast majority will have no idea. Then, when you explain what you are all about, tell them you are all about the crusades, most will not be onboard. You all are the ones who are dividing the church, not the other way around. Your rhetoric is going to turn most people away or make them enemies to your movement. So, you should expect more orthodox ministries like G3 to continue to attack, because ultimately this fad needs to die out. Even Doug Wilson, who himself is very controversial, is not onboard. That really should speak volumes.
It speaks volumes about the boomer generation.
Casually accepting a castrated church is something unique to the modern soy boy. The reason we are in this mess is because a bunch of losers decided that being “controversial” hurts feelings of the enemy. Says “no” to crusades but will tolerate incredible forms of societal degeneracy for the sake of being tolerant. Even if my worldview is that of a dying breed I wouldn’t have it any other way. You call it a dividing of the church. Jesus calls it wheat and tares bud.
This is true, no one in most churches know who these people are. I went to conference that had Wolfe and Harris and the men’s group, mostly boomers, had no clue who they were or what CN was about. They are about 10 years behind the times.
